The international chamber trio, Iris Trio (Christine Carter – clarinet, Zoë Martin-Doike – viola, Anna Petrova – piano) will tour their new program, Project Earth: Blue Chapter with compositions by Florian in Germany and the USA in May 2023.
Project Earth is the Trio’s response to the triple planetary crisis. Through newly commissioned poetry and genre-crossing chamber music, the project strives to illuminate the impact of human behavior on the environment, addressing issues of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, while recognizing the power of our collective imagination to create meaningful change.
The first Blue Chapter consists of 3 new works that they commissioned Florian to write for them: Bird Island Suite, Chorus of Wishes, Kinds of Blue. Each work is written to poetry by revered Canadian poet Don McKay who will be in tour with them to read his poetry.
